Statement of the Syrian Interim Government on the report of the United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Syrian Arab Republic issued on 14-September-2020 regarding human rights violations in Syria.

The Syrian Interim Government was and still be open, cooperative and partnered with all international, impartial and independent efforts to investigate war crimes committed in Syria in order to uncover facts, achieve justice and prevent impunity of criminals. Based on these constants, the government has always called on behalf of Syrians demanding an investigation (professional, impartial and independent), which is far from politicizing the human rights file and able to avoid the pressure of the countries supporting the Syrian regime and the separatist militias.

In this context, we followed the last report issued by the Independent International Commission of Inquiry, which contains, with all regret, lies and political fabrications formulated in language that bears great hostility to the Syrian revolution, and it reaches a point of prejudice against the National Army and its institutions and lacks human rights professionalism.

We strongly condemn the biased accusations, lies and interpretations contained in this report that are almost verbatim issued by the separatist militias or the Assad regime and its allies against the National Army and the revolutionary forces.

We also strongly condemn this intended confusion between criminal crimes, which are committed in any community in the world (such as robbery crimes) and that the relevant

institutions, primarily the police and judicial institutions, work to eliminate them, prosecute criminals and achieve justice, and between war crimes and crimes against humanity.

We condemn, in the strongest terms, the neglect, which we view as an intended and serious development, to hold the major responsibility for the Assad regime and its militias and states allies for the hell in which innocent Syrians live due to the grave crimes committed against humanity including brutal massacres and mass destruction by all kinds of forbidden and indiscriminate weapons in addition to the forced displacement of millions, and the plundering and looting of vast areas, and these brutal crimes do not need to be investigated as the whole world witnesses them every day.

We condemn this provocative neglect (despite the irrefutable facts and evidence) of the systematic policy of the terrorist (PKK / PYD) militias against defenseless civilians in northern Syria and targeting them with the continuous massacres by detonating the explosives and IEDs planted in markets and residential neighborhoods, and not even directing suspicions or accusations against the terrorist militia of SDF for plotting them, despite the irrefutable evidence and the clear facts.

It is surprising how misleading and manipulating the world public opinion became when dealing with these bombings through mentioning (implicitly or explicitly) the National Army’s responsibility for terrorist operations inside the cities of the liberated north.
